Years 5 and 6

English

All Year 5 students have been working very hard in class. Students worked on persuasive writing whilst reading different texts and focusing on facts and opinions. It has been an extremely busy term but I am very proud of the Year 5 students’ progress so far!

It was great to see you at parent teacher interviews. You should all be very proud of your child’s achievements thus far. Term 2 was very busy in the English classroom. Students had the opportunity to scaffold and learn new strategies in writing, reading and comprehension. I am very proud of all their efforts.

We visited Sovereign Hill and learnt about the different roles of individuals in the olden days. We also had a first aid incursion were we focused on anaphylaxis and how to administer an Epi Pen. We also revised CPR steps.

There is no holiday homework, as your child deserves a nice long break. However, parents who would like their child to be busy may utilise the resources on the Reading Eggs website which I urge you to visit as it has excellent learning resources for your child. There are over 2,000 books to choose:

This has been a fantastic semester and we are all looking forward to the next one! Have a safe and enjoyable holiday!
